The ONS's review looked into the quality of migration estimates, which are based largely on the International Passenger Survey (IPS) - a system designed to collect information about passengers entering and leaving the UK.

The IPS found some citizens coming into the UK from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia had not been counted between 2004 and 2008.

This was partly because IPS interviews focused on major airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester - at the expense of regional hubs which were increasingly being used by migrants, the ONS said.

Regional airports in the UK were either not covered at all by the IPS or not fully covered, the ONS said.

Let's get this straight. EU economic migrants fly in on Ryanair or other low cost airline to some out of the way airport and not BA into Heathrow. This might be because they are POOR. That's why they are coming here. But the power that be are too God damned stupid to even run a decent passenger survey even though this is a crazy way to track immigration.

It's people. Too many people.

Why is there a supposed housing shortage? Too many people.

Round here the bulldozers don't stop. Massive new housing developments in Milton Keynes and Aylesbury. 1000 houses per year in Milton Keynes and in Aylesbury another 1000 per year. Acre after acre turned into massive estates with new schools and other facilities.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/currentevents/2012/10/16/warning-bell-for-developed-countries-declining-birth-rates/

Western European countries have low fertility rates, below the replacement rate of 2.1. Germany: 1.4 (its total population is 81.9 million, of which 8.2% are foreigners). Holland: 1.8 (16.5 million, of which 4.4% are foreigners). Belgium: 1.8 (10.8 million, of which 9.8% are foreigners). Spain: 1.4 (46.1 million, of which 12.4% are foreigners). Italy: 1.4 (60.2 million, of which 7.1% are foreigners), the Pope’s views notwithstanding. Sweden, which provides deep support for parents, has a high TFR of 1.9 (9.4 million, of which 6.4% are foreigners), but that’s still below the replacement rate. Ireland and the U.K. also have high TFRs, at 2.1 and 1.9, respectively, but these rates are derived from non-European immigrant parents.

Note that the UK has a birth rate, TFR, below the replacement rate of 2.1 even with the high birth rate of non-European immigrants. So why the need for more housing? Net migration which is running at over 150,000 per year. Better than it was but still awful.

In hand waving terms we need a new city the size of Milton Keynes every year just to accommodate the new arrivals. That's new houses, schools, hospitals, roads and so on as well as the national infrastructure that goes with this.

Struggling A&E at the local NHS dive? Too many people. Pressure on housing? too many people. Congested trains and roads? Too many people.

Since population growth is down to mass immigration the only way to stabilize the population is to limit immigration to no more than the emigration rate. Like a full car park, no one allowed in until someone leaves.
As a libertarian, a goat in society, I like to think most people treasure freedom. I know I am kidding myself.

Most people dislike, nay hate, personal freedom. Most people, the sheep, want nothing more than for someone else to take responsibility for their lives. Freedom scares them. Freedom means they have to think about and plan for the future. Most people don't even bother to make a will despite the fact that the inevitability of death makes this an obvious thing to plan for.

Simply put the sheeple will vote or campaign for someone, anyone, to take care of them. Loss of liberty is meaningless to them. The sheeple are the people who vote for the mainstream and extremist parties. They will always vote for perceived security over liberty.

I hang out in the libertarian blogosphere. However this is a personal comfort blanket which hides the depressing fact that most people are freedom hating sheep and always will be.

The BBC, while being bien pensant and continually spouting anti-colonialist sentiments, is actually institutionally colonialist.

Let me explain. A number of British people went to work in Algeria, a known unstable country with a history of civil war and Islamic terrorists. Said workers will have known this and accepted the risks. Then terrorists grab the workers in a raid on a gas plant in a remote area of Algeria.

Then shock horror from the Beeb. The Algerian military take what they consider is appropriate action, based on their experience of the terrorists, on their own soil. "What?" says the Beeb, "they didn't wait for the UK to give permission or to send in the SAS?" "Their forces are good by local standards but not up to ours". A damning colonialist sentiment.

It appears there was some collateral damage, something the Beeb takes in it's stride in Afghanistan, Pakisatan, Iraq, Sierre Leone, ... and now by the French in Mali. The Beeb treats collateral damage lightly when it only involves locals going about their daily lives.

Now, shock horror, some of the British workers appear to be involved in the collateral damage. But they were there by choice, knowing the risks. Why is collateral damage only an issue when the British are on the receiving end? A damning racist sentiment.
I welcome last week's decision to allow academy schools to employ real, un-indoctrinated, people to teach. And of course there is now the inevitable response.
As far as I can see Husbands comments are a blatant attempt to keep monopoly control of teaching so as to protect the pathetic, qualified, specimens from the rigour of being exposed as useless. The Government along with the guilt trip organizations such as the Child Poverty Action group use relative poverty as a guide to child poverty in the UK. The poverty line is set at 60% of average earnings.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18436795

Child poverty down as household income drops shouts the BBC.

The number of children living in poverty in the UK fell by 300,000 last year as household incomes dropped, official figures have revealed.

Only the innumerate, such as all the media, will be surprised that in a recession poverty decreases. Wages have dropped and more people are unemployed so the average wage has gone down but benefits haven't. Hey presto 300,000 less poor.

Are the new un-poor better off than they were? Were they even poor in the first place?

Good businesses rarely need to borrow money. A good business makes profits. A good business should raise money, when required, from it's shareholders.
We have been through an aberrant period where business has raised money from banks rather than investors.

Many big companies sold their business premises and leased them back. How mad was that? Blowing your capital and increasing your overheads, the economics of the madhouse. They deserve to go broke.

We have done everything possible to run our businesses without debt. We do not have to pay interest to the banks. We don't care what the banks think of us. We are free.

Our only concern is should we be lending to the banks? Are they a safe place for our money?
Years ago I saw a statistic, bearing in mind that 93% of statistics are invented, that said 90% of owner operated businesses had no borrowings and had savings in the bank. The only sane way to operate.Disenfranchised of Buckinghamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11989290766873050732noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320635364184310009.post-58137922836730216572012-05-09T13:34:00.000+01:002012-05-09T13:34:03.465+01:00Racists?
One of the ways for a graduate to get ahead these days is to do an unpaid internship. That is to be a dogsbody for a city institution, charity, or political organisation.

So good are the benefits of internships that the politicians are trying to make sure they are fairly allocated rather than being allocated by the old boys network or raffled for fundraising.

Clearly unpaid work is seen as a great way to start your career.

The Government has various schemes to get the unemployed into work which are basically internships for the oiks. So why are same bien pensant Gaurdanistas that want free access to internships opposed to work experience schemes for those further down the social ladder?Disenfranchised of Buckinghamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11989290766873050732noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320635364184310009.post-8091005972616047312012-02-29T18:25:00.000+00:002012-02-29T18:25:19.547+00:00Work scheme benefit

Today the BBC reports:

Ministers have dropped the threat of sanctions for unemployed youngsters on a controversial work experience scheme.

I have to agree, no loss of benefits if people don't want to complete a work experience scheme placement.

The right answer is simple. No dole, unemployment benefit for anyone, ever.

Bring in work fare. Jobs for anyone unable to find one for themselves. No one should have to do work fare but no money for not working.

Not enough jobs for work fare? There is always more than enough that needs doing. Are the city streets clean? Are the country byways litter free with manicured grass verges and hand trimmed hedges? If the worst comes to the worst 1 week a team can dig a football pitch size hole and the next week another team can fill it in again.

There is never a reason for an able bodied person being unemployed.Disenfranchised of Buckinghamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11989290766873050732noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320635364184310009.post-54664903722402517062012-02-16T23:04:00.000+00:002012-02-16T23:04:18.224+00:00Minimum wage

The cartoon says it all really.

Watching question time and they are arguing about youth unemployment.

Simples. Most 16-20 year olds aren't worth £3 an hour let alone the minimum wage. So I don't offer jobs to youngsters.

I was listening to the BBC this morning and to put it bluntly they got right up my nose. The BBC seemed to support the idea that bankers bonuses should be repaid if the bank didn't actually make money in the long term. However this morning they were attacking the withdrawal of Sir Fred's knighthood. But hang on, Fred got the knighthood as a cherry on his pension for services to banking and his bank didn't make a profit in the long term.

So Fred has been forced to repay his knightly bonus which seems to be exactly in line with BBC thinking. Makes you wonder if all the great and the good at the Beeb who are expecting their honours in due course are worried by the precedent.Disenfranchised of Buckinghamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11989290766873050732noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320635364184310009.post-15599428100542714512011-11-23T00:18:00.000+00:002011-11-23T00:18:24.283+00:00Neither a borrower or a lender beI had a run in with the business's bank the other day.

I run separate sterling, dollar and euro accounts so that I don't get tied up in too much foreign exchange nonsense. As it happened, due to VAT crap with HMRC I needed more pounds for a short period. I didn't want to convert dollars as I would need to change them back to dollars in the not too distant future with all the exchange rate costs and losses.

Easy I thought. A job for an overdraft. So I asked the bank for a £20k overdraft. No problem as I had way more dollars than is guaranteed by the Government. But no the bank insisted they needed my personal guarantee for a business overdraft. No problem I said but I wanted a personal guarantee from the bank directors for my dollars not covered by the Government.

Oddly enough the bank directors seem rather less confident in their business than I do in mine. So I ended up converting to dollars to pay a VAT bill that was refunded to me a few weeks later.Disenfranchised of Buckinghamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11989290766873050732noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320635364184310009.post-75194218998277437202011-10-31T17:23:00.000+00:002011-10-31T17:23:57.331+00:00Jeez!

So today's debate in the commons on having a referendum on the EU is of great interest to me.

Whether you are for or against the EU is beside the point. 99.5% of you can lobby your MP and make your views known, and you never know it might even make the tiniest bit of a difference to the outcome.

On the other hand the good burghers of Buckingham are disenfranchised. We can lobby our MP as much as we like and, unless there is a tied result, the person elected to represent our interests doesn't even get to vote.Disenfranchised of Buckinghamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11989290766873050732noreply@blogger.com2
